Episode 3 of Hard Knocks went in a completely different direction of the previous episodes. Revis was barely mentioned along with the players you would expect to be shown. Instead of showing Mark Sanchez or Bart Scott, episode 3 instead followed players on the edge of getting cut and special teams coach Mike Westhoff.
Mike Westhoff is a cancer survivor who has a titanium rod in his leg from where the cancer was removed. Needless to say he's lucky to even be on the sidelines. I am thankful Hard Knocks decided to profile Westhoff because he has a mouth that makes Tony Dungy cry. He cusses, he drops one-liner after one-liner to motivate his players. One of the players in the cross hairs of Westhoff was receiver David Clowney. Westhoff fired off this one-liner about Clowney, "We've talked about David's ability, for crying out loud, since Bush was president." Westhoff is no doubt one of the stars of the show.
Other great moments from the show include the hazing of rookie Brian Jackson. Jackson had been mouthing off to his coach Dennis Thurman all practice. Bart Scott, Jason Taylor, and Antonio "I can't remember my children names" Cromartie tied up Jackson and poured Icy Hot, Gatorade, and baby powder all over Jackson. On the very same day, Jackson was named King Ugly by his fellow rookies. Rough day for Jackson.
Quick question: How many feet are in a yard? If you guess three, then you're correct. Well one of the Jets coaches got the question wrong. Really wrong.
Rex stole "King Ugly" from the Ravens. The man has no shame.
ReplyDelete@Kris: Rex mentioned on the show last night he picked this up from the Ravens.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad Rex gave credit because I was this close to putting him in the "Carlos Mencia Fan Club," right next to Kenny Williams.
