Foul Ball: The National League Finally Defeats the America League

American League 1 National League 3: Managing errors were the theme of the game. Joe Girardi and his braces blew the game in the ninth inning by not pinch-running for David Ortiz after he reached base. Ortiz was promptly thrown out by Marlon Byrd from right field and the AL never had a chance to beat the National League.

The National League ended a 14-year drought by finally defeating the American League. Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann broke the game open in the seventh inning with a bases clearing double down the right field line. The game was pitching dominated with the NL striking out eight batters and the AL striking out ten batters. The game also featured base running errors by Ortiz and Joe Mauer and a fielding error by Matt Holliday. The game was boring, repetitious, and unexciting. I enjoy pitching duels as much as the next fan, but not at the All-Star Game. Bring back PEDs!

Yes. Yes. Yes. The constant changing of pitchers in the ASG destroys the rhythm of the game and what makes pitching duels great. The Halladay-Wood pitching duel a few days ago was one of the best games I've seen this year, but this ASG game caused insomnia all around.
