Foul Ball: Crazy Catch & Crazy Game in San Francisco

Chicago Cubs 2 Washington 3: The video above is a catch Marlon Byrd made in this game. Byrd lost the ball in the sun and somehow caught the ball behind his back. That wasn't enough for the victory for the Cubs.

San Francisco 6 Philadelphia 7, 11 innings: Talk about a heart breaking loss. Tim Lincecum dominated the Phillies through 8 1/3 innings and then the Giants bullpen imploded. Brian Wilson allowed three runs in the ninth inning to let the Phillies tie the game. Then in the 11th inning a combination of bad Sergio Romo pitching and Eugenio Velez defense finally lead to a Giants defeat. Needless to say there is a lot of anger pointed at Velez.

Milwaukee 5 Pittsburgh 6, 14 innings: Trevor Hoffman blew another save. His 2nd in a row and forth this season. Once again Hoffman gave up a homer to Pirates catcher Ryan Doumit in the ninth inning to blow the save. Garrett Jones then finished off the Brewers in the 14th inning with a double.

Colorado 11 Arizona 12, 10 innings: Kelly Johnson's leadoff home run in the 10th inning would be the game-winner in a crazy game between Arizona and Colorado. Arizona blew a six-run lead in this game and then fell behind five runs before rallying to tie the game in the eighth inning. Both teams combined for 24 hits and four home runs in the game.

Tampa Bay 10 Oakland 3: Evan Longoria and Carlos Pena each homered and James Shields struck out 12 to help the Rays sweep the two-game series against Oakland. Shields allowed a first-inning home run, then limited the A’s to five hits and an unearned run over the next six innings. The ghost of Alex Rodriguez spooked Dallas Braden in this game.

Toronto 0 Boston 2: The Red Sox swept the Blue Jays and have returned to .500 on the season. Jon Lester fanned 11 Jays in seven innings to pick up the victory. Dustin Pedroia and Darnell McDonald drove in the only runs of the game.

Texas 6 Chicago White Sox 5: Josh Hamilton hit a two-run home run to cap off a five-run first inning for the Rangers. Neftali Feliz almost blew the save by allowing two runs in the ninth before finally closing the door on the White Sox.

Ozzie Guillen Quote: Once again Ozzie is not afraid to throw one of his players under the bus. His target this time is Gordan Beckman. From the AP recap, “Like I say every day, you can’t come here and think you’re carrying this ballclub,” Guillen said. “This is about 25 guys, not about one. He’s trying to do too much, he’s desperate to do good.”

St. Louis 6 Atlanta 0: Jaime Garcia shut down the Atlanta as the Braves lost their eighth straight game. Garcia pitched seven innings giving up no runs, four hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. The struggling Jason Heyward sat out the game.

Video of the Day: Because I can't get enough of Ozzie Guillen. Here's Ozzie getting a haircut.
