  1. I worried about tonight's Maryland game. Miami has a beast in Dwayne Collins and 3 40%+ 3pt shooters.

Oh and I find the Stoner annoying beyond words.

  2. You don't like the Stoner? I'm disappointed.

  3. Oh, in case anyone has ESPN 360 or Full Court or lives in the East:

North Carolina @ NC State at 9PM on Raycom Sports

  4. can't 1 of the Barry's break out their dad's toupee?

    ReplyDelete
  5. For Rick Barry being the hugest dick in the world, he could not have raised nicer sons. I just figure his first wife must have been really nice person.

    ReplyDelete
  6. @KT: Thankfully Brent still has hair.

    ReplyDelete
  7. @Keith Brent won't if he ever takes a job at ESPN.

and I agree with your opinion about Mrs. Barry. She must have been a saint.

    ReplyDelete
  8. @KT: Rick Barry used to host a sports talk show on KNBR in San Francisco and he was God awful. The only sport he followed was the NBA so what he would do is take a long summer break after the NBA Finals then come back when the NFL season started. He even admited on air that he didn't watch the Giants (even though KNBR has owned the Giants broadcast right for over 20 years.)

Thankfully he left the show after 2006, but he was replaced by Rod Brooks. And somehow Rod Brooks is even worse. Brooks is the local version of Stu Scott just by the way he speaks.

  9. @Keith wow. i can't imagine Rick Barry talking competently about anything but basketball.

and if Greivis Vasquez played for any other team but Maryland I'd want to choke him with my bare hands. I despise his "shimmy shake."

    ReplyDelete
  10. @KT: Try being a Cal fan during last year's tournament. I can't stand watching Vasquez after that tournament.

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Keith That NCAA tourney game was their most complete performance last season. Of course, it was a good matchup for the Terps as last year's Cal team had no interior size either.
And Vasquez played great that night.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Cal was way over ranked in the tournament last year. Them and Maryland should have switched rankings.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Jon Barry just dropped a "What About Bob?" reference

    ReplyDelete
  14. Good ole Jon for you, KT. He was by far one of the most fan favorite Sacramento Kings of all-time.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I'm sorry Kris, but I would never want to play for Garry Williams. I know he's done a lot for Maryland after the Bias death and the fallout from the Bob Wade fallout, but he just looks colorless to play for. No expressions except constantly looking pissed. I don't know why anyone would want to play for him.

  16. Terps lead at halftime 48-31

Drew Barry says nothing unless Jon or the Stoner directly ask him a question. Jon Barry is really enjoyable though

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jon Barry is really solid. I'm surprised at how well he adjusted to the college game, despite mainly being an NBA guy.

  18. @Jay I agree with some of what you say. But Gary's a grad of MD(like me)and we all feel that Duke and UNC fans look down at us(eventhough we're the only ACC school outside of NC to win the National Championship)and his constant fighting and bitching over that lack of respect has endeared himself to Maryland fans. And his players love him, because he always has their back and always has them prepared to play. Gary's an underrated ingame coach. A much bigger factor in why guys don't play for Maryland are the academic restrictions imposed after the Bias death & debacle. For instance(and this isn't the only example)Kevin Durant wanted to play for Maryland(he's from suburban DC), but he couldn't get in to school, so Gary recommended Texas and his best friend in coaching Rick Barnes.

And what a shock. Jason Williams pisses all over Maryland's chances of contending for the ACC crown. If they keep shooting this well, they will be in the race.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Keith you're watching the Terps game?

    wow BC is hammering Clemson.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @KT: Definitly agree about his ingame coaching. Highly underrated. I guess it's just his appearance that would turn me off.

Also I do have a whole lot of respect for a guy who doesn't recruit AAU players and guys who will only stick around for a year, even though the Baltimore Sun and Wash Post took him to task about these things.

And it would figure a Duke grad wouldn't like Maryland's chances.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @KT: No, I just know how good Jon Barry is behind the mic. I'm watching the Mighigan-Sparty game and switching back and fourth to Chronicle Live the local sports show.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Jay that's an excellent point about Gary not going after AAU guys(see Rudy Gay)

of course, he almost pissed that away if Lance Stephenson had come to College Park. as to Gary's attitude, I know you'll never see him constantly screaming and touching guys ala Frank Martin.

  23. Terps lead by 18

Caps lead 5-1 vs the Islanders

Lakers lead by 16 over the Wizards.

Good night for me so far!

    ReplyDelete
  24. @ kt: Well, are your Twerps losing to Miami yet? ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  25. @JFein nah...they're up 63-39

the Barry brothers are talking about breaking out the family phots

    ReplyDelete
  26. Great piece on CSN Philly right now on the Villanova Wildcats and their elite 8 victory over Pitt.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @ kt: And that's how you know your game is a blowout!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @JFein is CSN aware 'Nova is the #3 team in the country?

Miami coach Frank Haith has his tie off. My brother once sat next to him on a Baltimore to Orlando flight.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Drew Barry:"I was scared of Gary Williams when I was playing Maryland."

    ReplyDelete
  30. @ kt: Yes, I think they are aware. Just like they are aware of the fact that the Flyers do not play tonight, the Sixers do not play tonight, Villanova does not play tonight, and if there is a Philly school playing tonight (I don't know Temple's, SJU's, Drexel's, La Salle's, and Penn's schedules by heart), they don't have the game.

They need programming. Villanova's documentary suffices just fine.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Justin: Don't you just love those local documentary's by the local Comcast channels? Their the poor man's HBO/ESPN documentary's but there actually pretty well done. I highly enjoyed the one CSN Bay Area did on the 89 Earthquake World Series.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @JFein I wasn't aware it was a documentrary. I thought it was a standard 5 minute report. I guess I'm surprised they didn't do a CSN+ and put the Caps-Isles game on.(not a CSN fan)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Drew: "I played in the NBA for 2 1/2 years"

    Jon: "And in Poland"

    Drew: "Yeah, and in Poland"

Their commentary has become wildly entertaining during this blowout.

    ReplyDelete
  34. John Erskine and Jason Chimera have scored goals for the Caps tonight. I think this means Joe Beninati gets one before the game ends.

    ReplyDelete
  35. @ kt: Yeah, it was a whole hour long thing.

The only thing they edited out was that they put .5 seconds back on the clock after Reynolds game-winner in the Pitt game. Understandable because everyone thought the game was over, the local announcers gave their dramatic call after the Reynolds lay up, the celebration was more dramatic after that shot, and who needs to show a near over-half-court buzzer beater, right?

    ReplyDelete
  36. @ kt: I can't even try to picture Joe Beninati scoring a goal.......does he even know how to hold a hockey stick?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @JFein good question. Beninati played lacrosse in college.

and way for Michigan to not fold when Sparty took the lead

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sparty down 1 with the ball..shades of Saturday?

    ReplyDelete
  39. wow Lucas got kicked in the head...i don't remember ever seeing that

    ReplyDelete
  40. LUCAS! 3.5 to go SPARTY LEADS BY 1

    ReplyDelete
  41. Dominating win for Maryland..81-59

    ReplyDelete
  42. such a smart play by Green to commit that foul

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh! How did that not fall? What a perfect play by Michigan

    ReplyDelete
  44. And Sparty wins! I like Sparty to make the Final 4 again this year.

    ReplyDelete
  45. GMan "Instead of announcing we should just tweet each other during the game."

Brando: "I like that. Then I wouldn't have to talk to you."

I like it to. I wouldn't have to listen to you Timmy

    ReplyDelete
  46. "Long, tall, and lean; the young man from Tampa, Henson, with the Reeeeturn to Sender"

do I even need to identify the speaker?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Can John Wall save Kentucky again?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Tim Brando on Larry Drew II: "Too much Drew Too(Two)" i'm not sure which he meant...

    ReplyDelete
  49. oh wow. basket and a foul for SC with 1 second on the shot clock

    ReplyDelete
  50. Downey has taken the game over for South Carolina

    ReplyDelete
  51. Big FT's for SC...up 1 with 23.9

    ReplyDelete
  52. and Wall fumbled it out of bounds

    ReplyDelete
