We had a full slate of games on Father's Day. I hope you enjoyed watching some baseball with your father. If you are like me, your love of sports comes from your father and you should be thankful for just that. Anyways on to the games.
5 Rockies 4 Pirates: Someone please cool off the Colorado Rockies. They are red hot. They have won five in a row and 16 out of 17 games. It's too bad they started the season off so badly, or they could be in first place of the NL West. Clint Barmas was the hero for the Rockies yesterday. Barmas homered, drove in two runs, and scored two runs. Jorge De La Rosa and four Colorado relievers combined picked up the win.
Jim Tracy Quote: From the AP, “Clint Barmes is thriving where he’s hitting in our lineup right now,” Tracy said. “He’s giving us everything we need from him at the plate and he’s making the plays in the field.” Skip, that describes how your whole team is playing right now.
3 Tigers 2 Brewers: Mike Francesa's favorite player hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Tigers the win. Justin Verlander pitched 7 2/3 innings giving up five hits, two runs, and his normal eighth strikeouts.
3 Giants 2 Rangers: Barry Zito carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning of this game. In total Zito went seven innings giving up two hits, two runs, and surprisingly striking out eight. I say surprisingly because Zito is not a normal strikeout pitcher, and he was going up against a very powerful Texas lineup. Randy Winn, who had been struggling, knocked in the winning run in the seventh inning.
Barry Zito Quote: From the AP, “Let them react the way they want,” Zito said. “It doesn’t affect what I’m doing.”

Zito is talking about the San Fransisco crowd. I give Zito a lot of credit because he was getting killed by the SF crowd early in his career in the City. But he took it in stride and never complained. Now he is having one of his best seasons of his career.
6 Yankees 5 Marlins: Wow! Just wow. First the Yankees lose two out of three to Washington, then they drop two out of three to Florida. Even worse for the Yankees, C.C. Sabathia had to come out of the game in the second inning with tightness in his left bicep. Hanley Ramirez and Cody Ross homered in the game for Florida.
6 Cubs 2 Indians: Well Cleveland didn't have to worry about their bullpen blowing this game, because their starting pitcher was the one who stunk up the joint. Geovany Soto homered and Jake Fox drove in three runs for the Cubs. Randy Wells went 6 2/3 innings giving up five hits and two runs for the Cubs.
10 Rays 6 Mets: Well how about that new and improved Mets bullpen? The Mets bullpen has combined to go 1-7 in June. B.J. Upton homered and drove in four runs for the Rays. Carl Crawford and Gabe Kapler both added two more RBI's for the Rays. The Mets bullpen in total gave up eight hits and six runs.

12 Cardinals 5 Royals: This was really the Albert Pujols Day. Pujols homered twice and drove in six runs helping the Cards sweep the Royals. I didn't know this but Pujols went to high school in Kansas City. In total Pujols hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs in the three game sweep of the Royals.
4 Padres 1 A's: Former Giant Kevin Correia shut down the A's going 6 2/3 innings giving up two hits and one run in the game. Heath Bell saved his nineteenth game of the season. Henry Blanco and Kevin Kouzmanoff each homered for the Fathers.
