Foul Ball: Bad Day For Phillies Fans

(Payback is a bitch)
Foul Ball is your daily baseball recap.

6 Brewers 1 Phillies: Not only did the Phillies lose, but Cole Hammels left the game after he was hit in the shoulder by a line drive off Prince Fielder's bat. Hammels left the game during the 4Th innings with a contusion. The Phillies also almost got no-hit by Dave Bush and the Brewers. Matt Stairs hit a pinch-hit home run for the Phillies for their only hit and run. Just a bad day all around for Phillies fans.

1 Mariners 0 Rays: Ichiro homered on the second pitch of the game to give the Mariners the only run of the game. It would prove to be enough as Mariners pitcher Felix Hernandez pitched seven innings and only allowing four hits. The Rays continue to struggle to provide run support for their pitchers.

12 Cardinals 8 Mets: Albert Pujols hit two home runs and Rick Ankiel also homered as the Cardinals were able to sweep the slumping Mets. New York has lost four straight and nine out of their last 13 games overall. Guess who was pitching for the Mets? No it wasn't Oliver Perez. You guessed it, Livan Hernandez. I am surprised the Mets can even pull him away from the fridge long enough to pitch.

5 Indians 2 Royals: Grady Sizemore's three-run home run in the eighth inning against Kansas City proved to be the game winner. Sizemore has four home runs and 11 RBIs in the last seven games. Also Kerry Wood picked up his third save for Cleveland. That's better than being on the DL.

Worst of the Night:

The Phillies only managed one hit and one run in their game against the Brewers.

The Royals committed two errors in their loss to Cleveland. Not to be outdone, the Indians committed three errors.

Even though Seattle won, they still committed three errors.

The Chicago Cubs were once again Dusty Baker'd

Kevin Milwood gave up three home runs in the Rangers loss to the Blue Jays.

White Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon went three innings giving up eight hits and five runs in their loss to Baltimore.

Video of the Day: Where does this catch rank all-time. Remember it is a girl making the catch.

1 comment:

  1. Not to be outdone, Baseball Tonight's new crush (and Mike Francesa's old one) Brandon Inge had two errors against the Angels.
I'm getting tired of Tigers pitchers (especially Verlander) allowing the big inning every other start.
