Must List: Week 7

Full confession: I really don't care about college football this year. Just don't care. Yes West Virginia is fun to watch, but can they realistically beat Alabama again? Can Oregon realistically beat Alabama? I'm not a fan of dynasties unless they involve my team and I'm especially not a fan of a dynasty that involves Nick Saban. I know I'm suppose to appreciate greatness, but it's hard to appreciate a midget dictator like Saban. So no I'm not fully engaged into college football this year like year's past, but I still keep my eye on the sport. Okay enough for the tangent and back to the Must List.

Saturday, October 13th
Oklahoma vs. Texas, Noon (ABC: Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, Holly Rowe) This game lost it's luster immediately when Texas lost to West Virginia last week. Oklahoma has already lost to Kansas State so these two teams aren't even the best teams in the Big 12 this year. Kansas State and West Virginia are the best teams in the Big 12. This game is still a must watch though because this a fun rivalry game played at a neutral location. And as I've said before, I love rivalry games.

Northwestern at Minnesota, Noon (ESPN2: Beth Mowins, Joey Galloway, Heather Mitts) I don't highlight this game for the game itself, but the fact that Heather Mitts is the sideline reporter. When I saw her name I thought there was some sort of mistake by the506. She went from winning a gold medal in August to sideline reporting in October? She wants to be a sideline reporter? Bizarre.

Kansas State at Iowa State, Noon (FX: Justin Kutcher, Eric Crouch, Darius Walker) Iowa State is like that little kid growing up who pesters everyone until they finally get their attention. Well Iowa State knocked off TCU last week and have knocked off undefeated teams like KState before (Remember last year's game in Ames, Iowa against the undefeated Oklahoma State?). I'm not saying KState is going to lose, I'm saying it wouldn't shock me if Iowa State beat them. Iowa State is the little kid pestering you for attention.

Stanford at Notre Dame, 3:30 (NBC: Tom Hammond, Mike Mayock, Alex Flanagan) I don't know what to make of Stanford. They beat USC, lose to Washington, need a collapse to beat Arizona. Their defense could shut down Notre Dame or give up 30 points. One thing's for sure about this game is that it should be pretty low scoring.

West Virginia at Texas Tech, 3:30 (ABC or ESPN: Sean McDonough, Chris Spielman, Quint Kessenich) I said last week Texas Tech was a fraud and they would lose to Oklahoma. Well they lost. West Virginia meanwhile can pour points on the board but their defense gives up points just as quickly. It's a random game like this that scares me with WVU. It's a road game in weird Lubbock. I have a bad feeling about WVU in this game even though Tech is fraud.

TCU at Baylor, 7:00 (Fox Sports: Mike Morgan, JC Pearson, Laura McKeeman) Should be a fun high scoring game that won't matter in the Big 12 standings.

South Carolina at LSU, 8:00 (ABC: Brent Musburger, Kirk Herstreit, Heather Cox) This game would have been more marquee if LSU didn't lose last week (You were right Kris when you said LSU was a fraud). I still don't trust South Carolina on the road, but they were pretty impressive last week in dismantling Georgia last week. LSU still doesn't have an offense though so I'll still go with South Carolina in this game.

Texas A&M at Louisiana Tech, 9:15 (ESPNU: Joe Davis, Kelly Stouffer, Cara Capuano) This game was suppose to be played the first Thursday of the season but was canceled because of a Hurricane. Fast forward to this week and La Tech is undefeated (with victories over Illinois and Virginia) while Texas A&M only has one loss on the year. I want to see La Tech beat A&M just to see the Aggies as frauds again but I don't think it will happen.

Alcoholic Beverage of the Week, Buffalo Trace: It's gotten cold all over the country lately. It's gotten cold here after week's of very hot days. So with cold days approaching I start pushing away from beer and start grabbing for the hard alcohol. Buffalo Trace was a bourbon the Colonel had me try the other night and I have to say I loved it. It was sweet and didn't leave a bad aftertaste. I'm not the biggest bourbon fan but I did like Buffalo Trace.

Recipes of the Week, Kitchen Sink Meatloaf: I'm white trash, I admit that so I like white trash food like Chicken Fried Steak and Meatloaf and biscuits and gravy. So my recipe of the week is Kitchen Sink Meatloaf which is very easy to make. You just mix ground beef with a bunch of other ingredients and then cook it in your oven for 55 minutes. Simple and fulfilling.
